About NAS
Hip and knee arthroplasty was introduced in Nepal in the early 1990s and has since seen a steady increase over the last two decades, proliferating both within and beyond the Kathmandu Valley. With many surgeons and institutions now offering state-of-the-art arthroplasty services in Nepal, the time had come to establish a society that represents the past, present, and future of arthroplasty in the country.
Initially formed as a subcommittee under the Nepal Orthopedic Association (NOA) in 2020, the Nepal Arthroplasty Society (NAS) was officially inaugurated on January 1, 2024, with the vision of creating an umbrella organization and a platform for all arthroplasty surgeons of Nepal. Since its inception, NAS has taken a proactive role in leading academic activities, providing a forum for collaboration and advancement in arthroplasty, and fostering affiliation among arthroplasty surgeons across Nepal.
